First Woman Driver in Race Car History Leads POINTS in V8 Stock Car Series, Racing to the Finish Line With her Dreams for a Championship

Mickey Wright attempts to claim her third championship of the year in the V8 stock car series SPO division and compete in her first SCCA PRO Trans Am race in the TA2 division this weekend, November 2-4, 2012 at Road Atlanta.

(October 31, 2012, Los Angeles, CA) The SCCA American Road Race of Champions will take place on November 2-4, 2012 at Road Atlanta located at 5300 Winder Highway in Braselton, GA, 30517. Mickey Wright has the opportunity to make history as the first female champion in both the V8 stock car series in SPO division races. Already, she has proven that car racing is no longer a man’s world and is the first female POINTS leader in any of the V8 stock car series divisions to date. Mickey will be racing on a 2.54-mile, 12-turn world-class road course with qualifying races on Friday, November 2nd, 2012.

In 2007 at the age of 45 years old, Mickey Wright was ready to redefine middle age and developed her thirst for the fast lane by competitive oval track racing through Competition 101’s Racing School. By 2010, she had won 18 qualifying and feature event races on both dirt and asphalt tracks. In June 2011, Mickey began road racing with SCCA, NASA, and V8 stock car series. Mickey Wright has won two POINTS championships this year. These include the SARRC (South Atlantic Road Race Championship) and the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Central Florida Region, both in the SPO division. The SPO (Special Production Over) division is a large bore engine class with no performance rules, only general safety rules, and four fenders for requirements.

In Mickey’s first complete year of road racing, she has set some milestones and made her dreams of burning rubber come true. For 2013, she is looking forward to racing the full Trans Am Pro Racing Series once sponsorship is secured. When asked about Road Atlanta Mickey Wright stated,“I’m really excited about this weekends’ race. We’ve tested here several times this year and gotten better each time. This weekend is where I need to put it all together to achieve our goals. I am proof women can do anything and new life begins with middle age”.

Mickey Wright will be available for interviewing at Road Atlanta this weekend. Please contact Jade Umbrella publicity team, stacey@jadeumbrella.com or erica@jadeubmrella.com, to make arrangements.

About Competition 101 Racing: Competition 101 Racing School was conceived and founded in 1993 by race car driver and builder, Stuart Lycett. Stuart’s initial motivation was to create a unique short track oval racing school program that offered “one-on-one” coaching without the usual high cost associated with this kind of format. Comp 101 is a Driver Development and Race Prep services provider. It’s a serious learning environment in which drivers of all skill levels can improve their competitive driving skills. In addition to offering “one-on-one” coaching, the school uses racing radios and “on-board” video data acquisition technology to maximize your learning experience. Competition 101 is THE ONLY SCHOOL in North America that offers you the option to drive on pavement or dirt or both and on short ovals, speedways or road racing circuits. When you choose Competition 101, you can choose to drive a NASCAR style stock car, Trans Am T2 Sports Car, Sprint Car, or Modified.
